I always detail the car before it goes in.

So I know if there are scratches/scuffs ahead of time.

So they (might) know I give a shit about the car and pay attention.

There is a snooker player here in the U.K. who when he was younger drove a white Mercedes 190e, he’d go into the Mercedes dealership where my dad worked and throw the car keys at my dad and say, ‘clean my car’, my dad knowing the boss liked Stephen would grit his teeth and would often find two or three used condoms under the passenger seat. Then one day it happened, Stephen came in and threw the keys, my dad didn’t catch them but picked them up and shouted back, ‘clean your own car and the used condoms from under the passenger seat’, and threw the keys back at him.

Stephen never did come back.

Working with/for the 1% has taught me that, for the most part, the wealthy are contemptible and horrible human beings. There are good and benevolent and wise among them, but for the most part they’re horrible. Something about never having to hear the word “no,” or face consequences for your actions makes a person into a monster.

I’m honestly surprised when I see JRITS posts of those hoarder cars. Seems like shops should just reject them. Or say they’ll work on them, but there’ll be a $300 car cleaning charge assessed, and then just take it to a detailer before they touch it any further.
